In Italy, in addition to his privileged relationship with Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, he appeared with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Filarmonica della Scala and Santa Cecilia Orchestras.

As Music Director of the Teatro Regio Turin Gianandrea Noseda has conducted several opera productions such as Falstaff, a compelling new production of Salome directed by Robert Carsen followed by three exciting new productions of Massenet’s Thaïs (the DVD has been recently released by Arthaus), Chaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades and Verdi’s La traviata directed by Laurent Pelly, which has opened the season 2009/10 of the Teatro Regio. With the tour of Germany in May 2008 he has also begun an increasingly important international activity which has lead to a residence in Japan and China (in the frame of the official programmes of the Shanghai’s Expo) in July – August 2010 which has been an outstanding success. In May 2011 Gianandrea Noseda and the Teatro Regio will begin a three years collaboration with the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris which will continue in 2012 and 2013.

As an opera conductor, Gianandrea Noseda led the Mariinsky Theatre – both on tour and in St. Petersburg – in new productions of opera and ballet: he has presented for the first time ever in St. Petersburg La sonnambula by Bellini (1998) Così fan tutte by Mozart (2002) and Il trittico by Puccini (2003). Since then he returns every summer for the “Stars of White Nights Festival”. In 2002 he made his Metropolitan Opera debut, conducting Prokofiev’s War and Peace followed by La forza del destino in 2006: with Un ballo in maschera in the 2007/08 season and with the new production of Il trovatore (in the 2008/09 season) Gianandrea Noseda has continued a close cooperation with the major Opera House in US. Future projects include La traviata (2010), Lucia di Lammermoor (on tour in Japan in 2011) and Macbeth (2012). With a new production of Verdi’s Il trovatore he also made his debut at the Orange Festival in July 2007 broadcast live by the French National TV at the presence of the French President Nicholas Sarkozy.

Gianandrea Noseda’s intense collaboration with the BBC Philharmonic includes studio recordings, subscription concerts at the Bridgewater Hall, the annual appearance at the Proms in London and an extensive touring activity in Italy, Czech Republic, Spain, Austria, Germany and Japan: after the success of their first tour they returned in March 2008 with an extensive presence in Tokyo in addition to concerts in Korea. In September 2008 he had the privilege to conduct the “Penultimate night at the Proms” with Beethoven’s IX Symphony. Live performances of Beethoven’s complete symphonies from the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester by the BBC Philharmonic conducted by Gianandrea Noseda in 2005 have attracted 1.4 million download requests in a BBC trial which was offered as part of Radio 3’s The Beethoven Experience. In the following years, complete cycle of the symphonies by Tchaikovsky, Schumann and Brahms have been made available on download to the worldwide audience by the record company Chandos Records.

Since 2002 Gianandrea Noseda is an exclusive artist of Chandos: his extensive discography includes recordings of Prokofiev (the first complete recording of The Stone Flower), Karlowitz, Dvorak, Smetana, Shostakovich, Mahler (Symphony nr. 10 in the Cook’s version) and Bartok (The Pianoconcerti with Jean-Efflam Bavouzet). An extensive survey of the music of the Italian composers of the XX century has included recordings of the rarely heard works by composers as Respighi, Dallapiccola, Wolf-Ferrari (Diapason d’or in France) and Casella (première recording of the Symphony nr. 2). The complete cycle of Liszt’s Symphonic works in 5 volumes has already received the acclaim of the International press. In cooperation with the Serge Rachmaninoff Foundation Gianandrea Noseda and the BBC Philharmonic have recorded the rarely recorded operas Francesca da Rimini, The Miserly Knight and Aleko as well as the Symphonies nr. 1 and 2. Conducting the Vienna Philharmonic he has also recorded for DG Anna Netrebko’s first album.
