Bass
Micah Howard joined the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Bass section beginning with the 1996-97 season. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Youngstown State University and his Masters Degree from the Duquesne University School of Music. He has studied with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra members Jeffrey Turner and Rodney Van Sickle. Mr. Howard was a member of the Bass section in the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra as well as Acting Principal Bass/section Bass for the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. He has acted as substitute bass for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Micah Howard has won numerous awards including first place in the International Society of Bassists Competition (June 1995) and first place in Youngstown State University's Concerto/Aria Competition as well as the Mozart Concerto Competition.
