About This Performance

Manfred Honeck brings the 2008-2009 BNY Mellon Grand Classics Season to a close with Mahler's sublime Symphony No. 2, known as "Resurrection." This monumental programmatic work, featuring full orchestra, vocal soloists and chorus, proclaims the composer's belief that there is life after death.

**Please note: there has been an artist change on this program.**
Due to illness, soprano Simona Saturova has cancelled her appearances with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for the BNY Mellon Grand Classics concerts on June 12 and 14 at Heinz Hall. In her place, Katy Shackleton Williams has graciously agreed to step in on short notice to perform.
