About This Performance

Composer Derek Bermel and Librettist Wendy S. Walters discuss
The Good Life
In celebration of Pittsburgh's 250th Anniversary, the PSO commissions a work from composer Derek Bermel and librettist Wendy S. Walters to pay tribute to the city's illustrious history. PSO Composer of the Year John Adams' Slonimsky's Earbox was influenced by Stravinsky's driving rhythms, and the popular "New World" Symphony was inspired by Dvorák's visit to America. The Good Life Pittsburgh 250 PSO commission is made possible by The Heinz Endowments.
