This concert features music by three prominent American composers. Samuel Barber offers an array of his versatile talents, from the energetic and ballet-inspired dance music to the reflective and famous Adagio for Strings featured in the film “Platoon.” John Williams, best known as a film composer for Star Wars, Jaws and E.T., describes his Horn Concerto as a symphonic poem that explores a variety of colors and moods.” Aaron Copland’s Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo is fun-filled, classic western music featuring the toe-tapping “Hoedown.”
