About This Performance
Three is the magic number! The all-female, mesmerizing, Grammy-nominated Eroica Trio makes their BNY Mellon Grand Classics debut with Beethoven's Triple Concerto for violin, cello and piano–not heard at Heinz Hall since 1987. The Eroica Trio includes pianist Erika Nickrenz, violinist Susie Park and cellist Sara Sant'Ambrogio. As The Boston Globe says, "[The] Eroica Trio is the real thing." Then, hear Manfred Honeck's first performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 3–the "Eroica"–with the PSO. Beethoven originally composed this larger-than-life symphony to honor Napoleon Bonaparte; however, the composer angrily removed the dedication after Napoleon declared himself Emperor of France.
