Live from Berlin

On September 11, 2011, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra was in Berlin, concluding their three-week European tour with a concert at the Berlin Philharmonie. The second half of the program featured the Symphony No. 5 by Gustav Mahler. Experience the subtlety, nuance, precision, and excitement of that live performance.

Preconcert Interview with Manfred Honeck

In a half lit hall, Manfred Honeck joins Daniel Finkernagel center stage at the Berlin Philharmonie. While the empty hall awaits its expectant audience, they spend a few moments discussing the emotions in Mahler's music and what it means in the context of that evening's 9/11 10th anniversary.

Streaming for this event was produced by the Digital Concert Hall (www.digitalconcerthall.com). The Digital Concert Hall is the virtual concert venue of the Berliner Philharmoniker on the Internet.
