Daniel Meyer accepts a proclamation of thanks to the PSO from the Wilkinsburg Community Engagement Committee (in honor of the fifth year of the PSO/Wilkinsburg relationship) during the May 22nd, 2008 Community Engagement Concert at Wilkinsburg High School

Via Community Engagement Programs, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra builds connections between the PSO and Pittsburgh communities through ongoing and multi-leveled relationships. PSO Community Engagement Programs create connections in the community which foster a lifetime of enrichment through music and continually build new and deeper relationships with area residents and organizations. The PSO is in the process of refocusing Community Engagement efforts and resources into underserved, lower socioeconomic communities, allowing us to become a contributing force in the vitalization of Pittsburgh. In Community Engagement Concerts, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra collaborates with area residents and organizations to plan and produce a chamber and/or full orchestra concert as well as other music activities throughout Western Pennsylvania communities. These programs are specifically designed to build relevance between community residents and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
