About This Performance

Immerse yourself in the music of early 20th-century Russia with returning guest conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier. Young Russian piano virtuoso and winner of the 2011 International Tchaikovsky Competition Daniil Trifonov performs Prokofiev's tumultuous Piano Concerto No. 2, known for its technical demands. After the critical failure of his first symphony, Rachmaninoff regained his confidence with the great success of his passionate and sweeping Symphony No. 2.

Come early for the pre-concert talk beginning at 6:30pm hosted by Jim Cunningham from WQED-FM.
