Hand picked by the piano man himself to star in Broadway’s Movin’ Out, Michael Cavanaugh sings the songs of not only Billy Joel, but other “Piano Men” as well: Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elton John. With more than 700 songs to his credit, composer/songwriter Jerome Kern has entertained millions with his Broadway musicals and film scores. Marvin will pay tribute to the creative force behind Showboat, Sunny and Sweet Adeline as well as Academy Award-winning songs like The Way You Look Tonight and The Last Time I Saw Paris. Other favorite Kern melodies include: Ol’ Man River, Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Long Ago and Far Away and A Fine Romance.

An unprecedented force on stage, screen and TV, the incomparable Bernadette Peters continues to astound audiences with her commanding voice and versatility. She has earned a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Pennies from Heaven and is best known for her Tony Award- winning roles as Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun, and Mama Rose in Gypsy. The PSO brings a little bit of old time Hollywood to Heinz Hall with a tribute to the genius of legendary dancer, choreographer, actor, singer, director and native Pittsburgher – Gene Kelly. Enjoy your favorite Gene Kelly movies as the PSO performs the music and expertly synchronizes it with the actual films including: Brigadoon, Singin’ in the Rain, and An American in Paris. You’ll be dancing home!

Marvin and the music of Motown take center stage featuring the songs of a few of Motown’s most famous artists including: Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gay, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Gladys Knight and The Pips and The Four Tops. Marvin then introduces Ray Charles’ protégé Ellis Hall. Celebrating the life and music of Ray Charles, Hall possesses a style of diversity that matches the legendary musician while singing: I Can’t Stop Loving You, Georgia, Hit the Road Jack and America the Beautiful.
