Day 5 in Sarasota started with a breakfast of French toast covered with maple syrup and caramelized bananas, fresh orange juice, and strong Costa Rican coffee.

After a bike ride to Longboat key it was time to practice and prepare for the 2pm concert at (the very purple) Van Wezel Hall. PSO 1st Violin Chia-Chi Lin makes her way to the stage door. |

The weather is perfect today..lots of sun and a comfortable 70F. I can see why people want to retire here. (PSO 2nd Violin Peter Snitkovsky). |

After the Concert
An afternoon concert leaves plenty of time for sightseeing before dinner. |
On the way to Longboat key we took the cutoff road on the right to “Harts Landing” at Causeway Park. This took us under the bridge to the pier. If you show up at 3:30 or 4pm when the fishermen return and are cleaning the days catch you can get a great view of the local feathered wildlife - as you can see some of the pelicans have full pouches. |
I took many more pictures of the pelicans and seagulls...click here to see them all! |
Dinner was at the Ritz Carleton..I had lobster macaroni, filet mignon and a warm chocolate cake called “Lava Cake” it had a soft filling that spills out like lava. Chocolate cake like this only shows up every few hundred thousand years and it usually heralds something big..like a new ice age. All of the other sweets on this trip can’t compare to this one….there is no way Daytona beach can produce something to beat this. |
