About This Performance

Joyce Yang makes her Heinz Hall debut with Schumann's striking Concerto in A Minor for Piano and Orchestra. Stepping in on short notice with the New York Philharmonic in March 2014, Pittsburgh Symphony’s music director Manfred Honeck was applauded for not only filling “a void on the podium,” but for leading “a performance of Bruckner’s final symphony that will linger and grow in memory.” Considered one of the great musical torsos of the orchestral repertoire, Bruckner’s 9th and unfinished symphony is dedicated “to the beloved God” and consumed the composer's efforts in the final decade of his life.
