BEETHOVEN: Piano Concerto No. 3
BRUCKNER: Symphony No. 9

Program Notes

Superstar pianist Yefim Bronfman joins Manfred Honeck and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to launch the Beethoven Piano Concerto season cycle.  In celebration of the five beloved Concerti that have inspired pianists and audiences alike for more than 200 years, Bronfman, internationally recognized as one of today's most acclaimed and admired artists, will perform the popular Piano Concerto No. 3.  Bruckner's towering Symphony No. 9, an awe-inspiring voyage through the peaks and depths of the human experience, completes the program.  A soaring culmination of a life's work in service to God and the belief that a symphony could stand as a sonic edifice to honor the divine, Bruckner 9 serves as a perfect vehicle to reveal the special relationship that Honeck has developed with the PSO over his 10-year tenure.  Be a part of the live audience this weekend as Manfred Honeck and the musicians of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra commit their award-winning Bruckner interpretation to high-definition sound.

Run Time: This performance will last approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes.
