Program Notes

Manfred Honeck conducts the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in Steven Stucky’s Silent Spring, a provocative meditation on the state of the environment.  A musical adaptation of author Rachel Carson’s influential book, this piece was commissioned and premiered by the PSO in 2012.  The Orchestra will then be joined by violin virtuoso James Ehnes to perform Tchaikovsky’s beloved Violin Concerto.  Rounding out this program is Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 4, capping off an evening of music not to be missed.

Run Time: This performance will last approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
