Lisa Gedris

In April 2005, Lisa S. Gedris joined the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Gedris' education includes a Bachelor of Music in Performance and Music Education from Alderson-Broaddus University, a Master of Music in Performance from Duquesne University and one year of study in the Artist Diploma program, also at Duquesne University.  Her family was very influential in her early musical development as she studied piano with her mother and trumpet with her father.  Other inspiring teachers include Timothy DeWitt, Roger Sherman and George Vosburgh.

As a professional trumpet player, Gedris held positions with the River City Brass Band, Westmoreland and Butler Symphonies, and has played as an extra with the Pittsburgh, Wheeling and West Virginia Symphony Orchestras.

Her library background was influenced by the expertise and guidance of Joann Vosburgh and Howard Hillyer in the Pittsburgh Symphony music library. Gedris is an active member of the Major Orchestra Librarians' Association.

Gedris has taught as a private trumpet teacher, trumpet instructor at West Virginia Wesleyan College and adjunct music education faculty at Duquesne University.

Gedris' husband, Dave, is a PGA golf pro and the owner of the Oakmont Golf Center.  The Gedris' live in Greenfield with their daughter, Lily.
