Audiences to Experience Cinematic and Musical Grandeur Together as the PSO Performs Composer John Williams’ Iconic Score Live to Picture

PITTSBURGH—The Force is strong with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as it brings back live-to-film concerts at Heinz Hall after more than two years with one of the most exciting films in the Star Wars series: “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi In Concert.”

In two concerts in February 2022 under the baton of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra assistant conductor Jacob Joyce, the orchestra will perform Oscar®-winning composer John Williams’ musical score live along with a complete screening of the Star Wars: Return of the Jedi film. Fans will be able to experience the epic scope and grandeur of this beloved 1983 film like never before, having a front row seat to the ultimate battle between father and son while being captivated by one of the most memorable film soundtracks of all time.

The Star Wars saga has had seismic impact on both cinema and culture over the past four decades, inspiring audiences around the world with its incredible storytelling, captivating characters, groundbreaking special effects, and iconic musical score composed by John Williams. The legendary composer is well known for scoring all eight of the Star Wars saga films to date and is the Academy of Motion Picture Sciences’ most-nominated living person, receiving numerous accolades among the industry’s highest honors including the Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, British Academy Film Awards, Emmy Awards, and GRAMMY Awards.
