Ziqi Meng

Ziqi (Jerry) Meng was born in Dalian, China, and moved to America at the age of nine.  He has been a violin student of Hong-Guang Jia for more than six years.  Meng served as the concertmaster of the 2015 Pennsylvania All-State Orchestra, and is currently the concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and also in the Mt. Lebanon High School String and school chamber orchestra.  He has made two appearances in Carnegie Hall in New York and will perform in another concert in Carnegie Hall this year.  His recent accolades include being a winner in the International American Protégé Piano and Strings Competition, earning Grand Prize award for the National League of Performing Arts National Young Artists Showcase Competition, being a winner of Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra Young Artists' Competition and also in the Pittsburgh Philharmonic Young Artists Competition.  Meng has previously soloed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, as well as with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra.  

Aside from music, Meng is very involved in science and math.  He has won qualification to the American Invitational Mathematics Examination through competing in the American Mathematics Competition 12.  He is also a part of his school's Science Bowl team, having won regional first prizes and division honors at competition events.  Meng is currently a junior in Mt. Lebanon Senior High School and is in the executive council of his school's chapter of National Honors Society.
