For every $1 given to the PSO, $4 is generated for our community. Every note we play reflects the character of Pittsburgh, and your support brings our music to life—not just in Heinz Hall, but across our neighborhoods and communities.
Generous contributions of all sizes make up over 75% of our yearly revenue. It is your passion and generosity that make Pittsburgh a unique orchestra city. Check out all the ways you can play your part and support your Pittsburgh Symphony today!

Ostinato Monthly Giving
Ostinato is the Pittsburgh Symphony’s monthly giving program, where you can provide the steady foundation that allows the PSO to flourish in our community. You can now support us automatically each month just like your favorite subscription service, except with the PSO, the whole community benefits.
EITC is a program offered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development that allows businesses and individuals to receive significant tax credits when they give to state-qualified educational programming, like the PSO!
Did you know that you can avoid capital gains tax by transferring appreciated stock? In addition to being a smart tax move, a stock transfer allows you to maximize your gift to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
If you initiate a stock transfer, have your advisor contact us at pso_development@pittsburghsymphony.org with the number of shares, type of shares, and transfer date so we can properly acknowledge your gift.
Donor Advised Funds
A donor advised fund (DAF) is a fund that allows you to support the causes and charities that are important to you as an alternative to private foundations. Talk to your financial advisor to learn how you can support the PSO through your DAF.
By law, DAF gifts must be fully tax-deductible and cannot be used for event tickets and are not eligible for donor benefits
IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions
If you are age 70 ½ or older, you can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to the PSO. If you recommend a distribution to the PSO, please make sure you or your advisor note your name and contact information on the gift so that we can properly acknowledge your support.
By law, IRA gifts must be fully tax-deductible and cannot be used for event tickets and are not eligible for donor benefits.
Matching Gifts
Many companies will match the charitable contributions of their employees, allowing you to double your impact! Plus, we recognize donors at the combined value of personal gifts and matching gifts.
Before you make a gift, check with your employer to see if they will match it, as each employer will have their own procedures to facilitate a matching gift. The Pittsburgh Symphony's EIN number is 25-0986052. Please contact us at pso_development@pittsburghsymphony.org if your gift will be matched by your company so that we can properly attribute your matched support.
Planned Giving
You don't have to be wealthy to make a meaningful and lasting gift.
Legacy gifts are a major source of support for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's Endowment, which invests these funds to produce yearly income that supports our ongoing operations. By making an investment now, your support ensures the future of our orchestra.
